Did everyone manage to avoid the winter flu? I did not.
And I missed work altogether Monday... on the plus side though it gave me some time to catch up with some of the books that have been recommended to me through this blog.
So far, for what my opinion is worth, PHP Objects, Patterns and Practice by Matt Zandstra has been a valuable read... I'm only half way through it though.
As well as that I have recently discovered r.je, a blog by Tom Butler, which has proven to be a great source of information. He points out a lot of things that have brought into question a few things that I just accepted before.
So over Christmas I plan to get back to my Calendar / Timesheet System and start trying to piece together everything that I am hoping I have absorbed.
I have been working on bits and pieces and things are making sense, but I'm hoping that some of the bigger picture pieces are going to start to fall into place over my Christmas break.
I will also be getting another book /* hint hint Santa cough */
I'm going to buy one of the next ones along in the series from Apress, a book called Pro PHP Patterns, Frameworks, Testing and More by Kevin McArthur.
Unless anyone knows a reason why I shouldn't?
I'm not going to say anything particularly technical in this blog, seeing as I'm about to go on my Christmas break... and if all goes to plan, there will be plenty of more technical blogs in the New Year... Yay!!
Just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone who has gotten involved in this blog so far, the pointers and advice have been invaluable and I hope that one day I will be able to give back.
The community really seems very friendly and eager to help whenever it can.
It really is appreciated and I hope you all have a very merry Christmas and I will talk to you in the New Year... have a great holiday!
